Morocco Journey

Starting off the New Year with our promised travel journey to Morocco. This time we'll give you an insight into an inspirational trip to Morocco. We have summed up all our favourite places to eat, stay and explore! Captured by our story-maker @daisysophia

Morocco, the land of incredible artisans and taste. Whether it is their rich spices in the kitchen or their endless creativity in interior design. It has an exceptional culture including their many traditions. Our story-maker @daisysophia created a complete overview with the ins and outs of Morocco, especially creative Marrakech.

Medina of Marrakech

Walking through the streets of Marrakech can be an overwhelming experience. The blushy toned streets are filled with people eating, praying and laughing together, especially at night time.

During day time you'll find most people hustling in the souks, where you will find the most beautiful interior treasures. From berber carpets to sisal baskets and light pendants, they have it all. It's an interior designers dream. Our favourite square to find your treasures is the spice square where Nomad and Cafe des Epices are located. We dare you to get lost in the souks, that's how your find yourself the most unique items.

Medina of Marrakech

Besides finding beautiful treasures you must try the amazing Moroccan kitchen. Have a tea at some of the local restaurants or go for a delicious tajine at Nomad. If you're looking for a more modern mix of the Moroccan and Western kitchen, Plus 61 Marrakech is just 10 mins outside of the old medina by taxi.

But most importantly, find yourself the perfect stay. As the city can be very overwhelming because of all the cultural impressions, it's important to find yourself a calm and quite space to relax and unwind. Below we show you one of our favourite places from a design perspective.

Riad Le Petit Yasmine

Our favourite stay when you're with a group of 4 - 6 is Le Petit Yasmine, Riad Yasmine's little sister. It's a private riad with 3 bedrooms that is rentable as a whole. It is beautifully decorated in a Modern-Moroccan style and includes a heated pool and Netflix home cinema set to make you feel more at home. On request Fadwa provides you an amazing breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Another favourite of ours is Riad L'Atelier. Not only because of their amazing eye for interior details, but also because of the wonderful hospitality and food they provide. It is located in the oldest part of the medina and includes 5 different rooms to choose from. We couldn't pick a favourite as they all are well designed.

If your planning a trip to Morocco and have some extra days left to calm down, don't miss out on beautiful Ourika. A charming village 50 minutes away from Marrakech, right on the edge of the Atlas mountains. Especially from February - April Ourika is a must visit as almond and cherry orchards bloom manically and wildflowers run riot. Don't forget to pass the main street and get your hands on some of the beautiful handmade potteries to bring home.

Kasbah Bab Ourika

We recommend staying at  the magical eco-friendly Kasbah Bab Ourika, which is a traditional berber build kasbah with an endless panoramic view. The rooms have an exceptional design, eye for detail, a beautiful view and fireplace included. We immediately felt at home.
